About Ajuy Fuerteventura Canary Islands
Ajuy is located at the west coast of Fuerteventura and ispart of the municipal district of Pajara, which is about 10 km away from Ajuy. Pajara is the centre of the southern part of Fuerteventura, that also includes the famous peninsula of Jandía.
Ajuy is a quiet village, Ajuy was one of the most importantports of Fuerteventura, but now is a quiet village less developed for tourists, therefore this place stays idyllic and romantic, especially because of the black beach and the nearby caves that are well worth visiting.
The fine black sand of Ajuy's beach and the blue water portray an interesting contrast.
The village of Ajuy has small, simple houses and there are only a few places to stay which is standard overnight accommodation. Also, Ajuy has several recommended bars and fish restaurants on the beach front.
The most important locations close to Ajuy are Pajara, La Pared and Costa Calma.
La Pared, which is located 30 km south of Ajuy, is a small village on the west coast of Fuerteventura, situated at the isthmus which separates the peninsula of Jandía from the rest of Fuerteventura.
La Pared is a quiet place with many private bungalows and a hotel, but there are no large apartment resorts like in Costa Calma or Morro Jable.
La Pared, like Ajuy, is surely the perfect location for enjoying a wonderful sunset, that you can see either on the beach, above the beach or in the fish restaurant.
There is a surfing school, a 9 hole artificial golf course, and a little outside of La Pared is a small stables that offers, amongst other things, rides along the beach.
Costa Calma is situated at the northernmost point of the peninsula of Jandía and lies on the isthmus, only 6 km from La Pared and thus from the west coast of Fuerteventura.
Costa Calma belongs to the municipality of Pajara and it is surely an important holiday resort, consisting of holiday flats, apartments, hotels, restaurants and shopping centres.
The main attraction of Costa Calma is the large quiet bay with its clear sandy beach.
From Costa Calma beach, at high tide you can walk along the beach to the south, Morro Jable, which is about 21 km. Not far from Costa Calma beach starts Playa de Sotavento with its breath taking beach scenery and also an excellent kite and wind surfing area.
